Privacy & your information

Only a small amount of information is needed to begin a conversation.

Who is responsible for your information?

Kim Smith trading as Dyslexiam is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Contact Kim at [email protected] or on 07876 458 917 with privacy questions or requests. Business correspondence address: 43 St Brannocks Park Road, Ilfracombe, Devon, EX34 8HY.

What we collect and why

The Contact and Free Conversation forms ask for your name, email address, who the enquiry concerns and a general reason. Your telephone number and short message are optional. Conversation requests can include a preferred day. Kim uses this information to answer your enquiry, discuss suitable services and arrange a conversation. A request does not book an appointment.

Name, email, enquiry category and reason are required to use the forms. You can also contact Kim directly by email or telephone. These enquiry details are not used for marketing.

Information to leave out

Please do not include diagnoses, reports, school records or detailed information about a child or another person. These forms do not accept attachments. Ask Kim how to share necessary assessment information securely before sending it. Assessment and client records have separate handling arrangements explained before they are collected.

Our reasons for using information

We rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, operating Dyslexiam and protecting the website against abuse, while considering your privacy and reasonable expectations. Where you ask us to take necessary steps towards providing a service to you, we rely on taking those steps at your request before entering a contract.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact Kim using the details above. We will consider your request and explain any grounds for continuing.

Website, security and email providers

Cloudflare hosts this website and processes form requests. Its Turnstile security check processes browser and request information to detect automated abuse. Our form guard stores a salted IP-derived identifier and attempt counters for 120 seconds, without enquiry text. Cloudflare also processes technical information to operate its hosting and security services.

Resend processes your enquiry for email delivery to Dyslexiam’s existing Google Workspace mailbox. Oblyx Developments Ltd manages the website and delivery setup for Dyslexiam. Authorised technical support may access information where necessary to operate or troubleshoot these services. Enquiry details are not stored in a website database.

The website does not include advertising or analytics scripts. Security services may use necessary browser storage and technical identifiers. Cloudflare also explains its use of signals to improve bot detection in its Turnstile privacy notice.

Our providers operate internationally. Their data-processing terms include safeguards for relevant international transfers, including standard contractual clauses and UK transfer provisions where applicable. Contact Kim for information about the safeguards relevant to your information. Provider information: Cloudflare, Resend and Google.

Cookies and analytics choices

No optional analytics service is currently connected, and this website does not use advertising trackers. The analytics choice controls let you accept or reject optional analytics. Ignoring the banner leaves optional analytics off. Before an analytics service is connected, this notice will identify the provider, the information collected, purposes and retention.

We remember your choice in your browser’s local storage for up to 90 days, solely to apply your preference. This is separate from the six-month enquiry retention policy. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice at any time. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies to the current page only. Necessary hosting, security and form protection continue regardless of your analytics choice.

How long we keep information

For enquiries that do not become a client relationship, we retain enquiry correspondence for six months after our last contact, then delete it from active enquiry correspondence. If you become a client, separate client-record retention arrangements are explained before assessment records are collected.

Our website abuse counters expire after 120 seconds. Resend retains email and delivery-log data for 30 days on our current plan, and its backups persist for seven days. Cloudflare retains technical and security information according to the purpose of processing, the nature and sensitivity of the data, security needs and legal requirements; its published policy does not specify one fixed period for all these records. Deleting an enquiry from active correspondence does not immediately remove every provider backup or security record. See Resend’s retention information or contact Kim for details about the systems handling your information.

Your rights and complaints

You can ask for access to your information and correction of inaccurate information. Depending on the circumstances, you can also request erasure, restriction or a portable copy. These rights have conditions and exceptions; we will explain what applies to your request.

Security checks may reject a form submission, but do not decide your eligibility for a service. You can contact Kim by email or telephone instead. We do not make decisions about access to services solely by automated processing.

You may contact Kim about a concern and may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office about how your information is handled.
