Exam Access Arrangements

Helping students access their exams fairly by providing appropriate assessment evidence and practical recommendations.

Dyslexiam offers two routes to assessment, depending on whether arrangements are being coordinated through a school or privately by a parent or student.

Specialist exam-access assessment

Kim is a Level 7 qualified specialist in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), with a specialism in dyslexia, and an Exam Access Arrangements assessor. With over 12 years’ experience working with schools, Kim supports SENCos, families and students to understand assessment needs and explore appropriate exam access arrangements.

Private Exam Access Arrangements Assessments

If you are concerned about the support a student may need in exams, a private assessment may help provide further evidence about their current exam-related needs.

Kim can discuss the student's existing diagnostic assessment or other relevant evidence, their current difficulties and the purpose of the assessment. This helps establish what assessment may be appropriate and whether the proposed service is suitable.

Please note that a private assessment does not automatically secure exam access arrangements. The school, college, university or relevant examination body must consider the evidence and determine which arrangements, if any, can be approved.

Updated assessments for GCSEs, A levels and university exams

Where a student has an existing diagnostic report that is several years old, an updated assessment may help provide a clearer picture of their current exam-related needs.

The service includes relevant assessment and a concise, five-page report outlining the findings and recommendations.

Format: Online or face to face

The appropriate assessment will depend on the student's circumstances and the requirements of the relevant school, institution or examination body. Please contact Kim before booking to discuss whether this service is suitable.
