Online dyslexia assessment

Explore assessment from home, with suitability agreed during your free conversation.

Assessment from the comfort of your own home

Your dyslexia assessment can be completed online, with suitability discussed during your free conversation. There is no need to travel to an assessment centre.

Online assessment can suit children, young people and adults who prefer to work in a familiar setting, live some distance away, or have work, school or family commitments. It can also be helpful for people who feel anxious about unfamiliar environments.

How your online assessment works

  1. Arrange your assessment

Start with your free conversation. Once the appropriate assessment is agreed, you receive confirmation of its date and time.

  2. Receive your online link

Your assessor sends you the link before the appointment.

  3. Join your assessor

At the agreed time, click the link to join. Your assessor guides you through each stage and explains what to do.

  4. Complete the assessment

You receive clear instructions, support and time to ask questions throughout.

What you need

  • A computer or laptop
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A quiet, comfortable space
  • Headphones, if you find them helpful

You do not need specialist equipment or software. Your assessor provides the online link and guides you through the practical preparation.

Is online assessment suitable for me?

The assessment is adapted to the individual. Your assessor discusses suitability and practical considerations beforehand, including any support a child or young person may need. If face-to-face assessment is more appropriate, this can be discussed during your conversation.

Assessments typically take around 2–3 hours, depending on the assessment and circumstances. Timing and any breaks are discussed when planning the appointment.
